The Gambler's Hand
Made with Azar and Ingrato

The Gambler's Hand

The art of playing it bold without showing your cards. A sophisticated wager where the bitter, botanical soul of the cherry vermouth secretly blends with the ruby strength of the macerated gin, holding in every sip the botanical richness of the southern forest.

Glass: Old fashioned glass (short, heavy-bottomed glass)

Ingredients

  • Ingrato45 ml
  • Azar45 ml
  • Orange bitters1 dash
  • Orange peel and a sprig of fresh rosemary or lemon verbena1

Steps

  1. 1. Place a large, clear ice cube (or well-solid ice) in the old fashioned glass.
  2. 2. In a mixing glass with plenty of ice, pour in the 45 ml of Ingrato and the 45 ml of Azar.
  3. 3. Using a bar spoon, stir gently for 20 to 25 seconds to chill and integrate without breaking down the body of the cocktail — this drink is never shaken.
  4. 4. Strain the mix directly over the large ice cube in the short glass.
  5. 5. Cut a piece of orange peel, press it over the drink to release its oils, and place a sprig of rosemary or lemon verbena (lightly clapped) alongside the ice.
